How should I store biopesticides so the living microbes stay alive?

Biopesticides like Trichoderma, Pseudomonas, Bt, Beauveria, Metarhizium and NPV contain living organisms, so unlike chemicals they lose strength fast if stored badly, and an expired or heat damaged pack simply will not work. Keep them in a cool, dry, shaded place, away from direct sun and heat, many do best refrigerated or in the coolest spot you have, and pheromone and NPV lures keep best in a fridge. Always check and respect the expiry date, microbial products have a short shelf life of a few months to about a year, so buy fresh stock and do not stockpile. Keep packs sealed until use, never leave them open in the heat of the field, and buy only from a reliable dealer who stores stock properly, not bottles that have been sitting in a hot shop window. Once you mix a spray, use it the same day, do not keep leftover diluted microbial spray overnight. Apply in the evening out of strong sun. Good storage is often the difference between a biopesticide that works and one that fails, so handle these as living material, not as a chemical you can keep on a shelf for years.
