How do North East farmers benefit from the MOVCDNER organic scheme?

MOVCDNER stands for Mission Organic Value Chain Development for North Eastern Region, and it is a dedicated scheme for the North East because much of the region farms with little or no chemicals already, which makes organic conversion easier. Compared to PKVY it puts more weight on building the full value chain, not just certification. It supports forming farmer producer organisations and groups, third party or PGS certification, creation of collection, grading and processing infrastructure, packaging and branding, and linking growers to organic buyers and markets, so the aim is to take North East organic produce like ginger, turmeric, pineapple, large cardamom and king chilli to premium markets. The support generally flows through state implementing agencies and FPOs rather than individual applications, so the practical route is to join or form an FPO and approach your state agriculture or horticulture department and the state organic mission.
