How do I get a Soil Health Card under the government scheme?

The Soil Health Card (SHC) is a government scheme run by the Department of Agriculture. The card is generated after your soil is tested in a government lab, and it lists the nutrient status of your soil plus crop-wise fertiliser recommendations. The usual route is this. Go to your block agriculture office, the nearest Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) or contact your village agriculture extension worker and ask to be included in the soil sampling drive for your area. Under the scheme, government staff or trained agency workers collect soil samples on a grid pattern from villages, send them to the lab, and the card comes back with your field details. You can also register and track it on the national portal at soilhealth.dac.gov.in. Give your correct name, Aadhaar or land record details, mobile number and survey or khasra number so the card is linked to your plot. The test under the scheme is meant to be free for the farmer.
