How much subsidy on a tractor and how do I get one?

Got my tractor subsidy as an OBC small farmer. The lottery selection is real, so do not buy before you get the approval letter, otherwise the claim can be rejected. Keep all bills and the e-bill.

The percentage applies to a capped amount, not the full tractor price, so on a costlier model your effective help is smaller in percentage terms. Work out the rupee cap for your HP class first, then you will know roughly how much you must fund yourself or through a loan.

In many states only one tractor subsidy is allowed per family in a long window, sometimes several years, and they check this against your land and family records. Do not apply in two names from the same household hoping to get two, it gets flagged and rejected.

Most farmers pair this with a bank loan since you pay full price first and the subsidy comes after verification. A KCC or a tractor loan covers the gap, and the subsidy later reduces the principal. Talk to your bank before the lottery so finance is ready if you are selected.

If you are not selected in the lottery and you genuinely need the machine, ask at your block agriculture office about a Custom Hiring Centre nearby. You can hire a tractor by the hour there for a fraction of buying one, which kept me going for two seasons until my own application came through.
