What types of projects are actually covered under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund?

Before I plan anything I want a clear list of what AIF will and will not fund. What kinds of infrastructure are eligible?

The Agriculture Infrastructure Fund covers two broad buckets, post-harvest management infrastructure and community farming assets, both at or near the farm gate. On the post-harvest side, eligible projects typically include warehouses and godowns, silos, cold storage and cold chain, ripening chambers, pack houses, sorting and grading units, primary processing units, assaying and weighing facilities, supply chain and logistics for farm produce, e-marketing platforms, and similar handling infrastructure. On the community farming asset side, it can support things like organic input production units, bio-stimulant or bio-fertiliser units, custom hiring centres for farm machinery, smart and precision agriculture assets, and infrastructure for cluster-based farming. Projects that are mainly about large-scale standalone processing or that fall under another dedicated scheme may need a careful check, because AIF is meant for farm-gate and aggregation-level infrastructure rather than every kind of factory. A good rule of thumb is, if the asset reduces post-harvest loss, adds value near the farm, or is a shared community farming facility, it is likely in scope. Because the eligible project list is updated from time to time, confirm whether your specific project qualifies on the official AIF agriinfra portal or with your lending bank before you build a detailed project report. This is general information and not financial advice.

This list helped me. I wanted a pure flour mill which was a grey area, but a primary processing and grading unit fit cleanly. Sometimes how you frame the project matters.

Custom hiring centre is also covered under AIF, which many people miss. We added machinery rental to our project and it improved the cash flow on paper.
