Are individual farmers eligible for AIF or is it only for FPOs and PACS?

Individual farmers are eligible under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund. The scheme has a deliberately wide list of eligible borrowers so that the infrastructure actually gets built. Broadly the eligible categories include individual farmers, groups of farmers, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS), cooperative societies, self help groups, joint liability groups, agri-entrepreneurs and startups, marketing cooperatives, and certain public and private players and aggregators. So you do not have to be in a group to apply. That said, there are practical reasons groups like FPOs and PACS use AIF heavily. A group can build a larger shared asset, spread the risk, run it at better occupancy, and sometimes access additional convergence support. As an individual you can still build a warehouse, sorting unit, primary processing line or custom hiring centre on your own land if the bank finds the project viable and you can manage the margin money and repayment. The key gate is bank appraisal, not your category. Confirm the current eligible borrower list and any per-borrower limits on the official AIF agriinfra portal or with your lending bank.
