Whether SMAM machinery must be bought from empanelled approved dealers and why.

In most states, yes. SMAM subsidy is usually given only on machines bought from manufacturers and dealers that are empanelled or approved on the portal, and on models that are tested and listed with an approved cost. This is to make sure the machine meets quality and price norms and that the subsidy is genuine. When you apply, the portal often shows the list of approved machines and dealers; you pick from that list, buy the machine, and upload the invoice with the serial number for inspection. Buying from an unlisted dealer or an unapproved model can get your claim rejected. A few states allow some flexibility, so check your state agriculture or agrimachinery portal for the dealer and model rules before you purchase.
I picked the dealer from the portal list and the model was already approved, so the inspection was smooth. A friend bought an unlisted model and faced trouble.
