Why PM-KUSUM applications get rejected, how to read the reason, fix the issue, and apply again in the next window.

A rejection is usually fixable once you know the reason, so the first step is to find out why. Check your application status on the portal and look for a remark, or ask the nodal office directly. The common reasons are: documents that do not match, such as the name on the land record, Aadhaar and bank account not being the same, or a missing water source proof, an unclear or expired land record, or the land not being in your name without the right consent or share document. Another frequent reason is the quota for the year or your category being full, since states process in limited batches, so a good application can be rejected simply because the slots ran out. Some are rejected because the chosen capacity did not match the verified water source, or because the applicant already had a sanctioned pump or an existing connection that made them ineligible for that component. To reapply, fix the specific problem first: correct the name mismatch, get your land record updated, add the missing proof, or pick a capacity that matches your bore. If it was a quota rejection rather than a document fault, your papers may be fine and you mainly need to apply again the moment the next window opens. Keep your old application number, and where the state allows it, raise a grievance to confirm the exact reason before you resubmit. Confirm the reapplication process with your state nodal agency since some states carry forward earlier applications and others need a fresh one.
Mine was rejected for a name mismatch between the land record and my bank account. I got the bank account corrected and reapplied next window and it went through.
Sometimes it is just that the slots filled up, not that your papers are wrong. The office told me to apply again early next time. Do not assume your documents are at fault until you check the reason.
