PM-KUSUM Component B eligibility, who can apply for individual solar pump subsidy.

You are generally eligible if you are a farmer who owns cultivable land with a water source and you do not already have a grid electricity connection for irrigation on that land (Component B targets off-grid and unelectrified fields). Individual farmers, groups of farmers, FPOs, cooperatives and panchayats can apply. Priority is given to small and marginal farmers. You need valid land records in your name and a bank account. Each state sets the exact criteria, allowed pump capacity and any landholding limit, so confirm on your state nodal agency portal. If you already have a grid pump, look at Component C for solarising existing pumps instead.

A point that tripped up my neighbour: the land must have a working water source already, a well, borewell or a pond. Component B funds the pump, not the digging of a new borewell. If you have no water source yet, sort that out first or look at a separate well or pond scheme.

If the land is in your father's or a joint name, get the record sorted before applying because the portal matches the land owner with the applicant and bank account. I had to add a small consent and a copy of the mutation to get past the verification.

Eligibility wording differs a lot by state, some cap landholding, some reserve a quota for small and marginal farmers. Do not rely on what worked in another state. Read your own state nodal agency criteria for the running cycle before you spend time on the form.
