Is rajma (kidney bean) profitable and what yield and price range can I expect?

Rajma gives a moderate dry yield of a few quintals per acre with good management. Its appeal is the price, since rajma usually sells at a higher rate than common pulses, and branded hill rajma like Chamba, Harsil and similar named types fetch a strong premium for taste and bold seed. Plains rajma earns less than hill rajma but still a fair rate. Profit can be attractive especially for hill growers with a name product, but anthracnose and frost are real risks. Check the current rajma rate for your grade and any premium for your region, and ask your KVK or local growers for realistic yields and costs before deciding rather than assuming top hill prices.
