PM Kisan Maandhan Yojana (PM-KMY) is a pension scheme for small and marginal farmers that gives a guaranteed pension of Rs 3000 per month after you turn 60. It is voluntary and contributory: you pay a small monthly amount between Rs 55 and Rs 200 depending on your age when you join, and the government deposits an equal matching amount into your pension account. To be eligible you should be a small or marginal farmer (cultivable land up to 2 hectares), aged 18 to 40, with a valid Aadhaar and a savings bank account. Income tax payers, government employees, and those already in other pension schemes like EPF/ESIC are not eligible. If you also get PM-Kisan, the contribution can be auto-deducted from that benefit. Register free at any CSC.
60 saal ke baad har mahine 3000 milta hai, aur jitna aap dete ho utna hi sarkar daalti hai. CSC pe Aadhaar aur bank account le ke jaao, free me register ho jaata hai.
One detail that helped me decide: if the pensioner dies after starting the pension, the spouse gets half, that is Rs 1500 a month, as family pension. For a small premium that felt like good security for old age.
