The easiest way to get a crop loan is through a Kisan Credit Card (KCC), which gives short-term credit for seeds, fertiliser, labour and other input costs at an effective 4% interest if you repay on time. Apply at any public sector, regional rural, or cooperative bank with your Aadhaar, land records, and crop details. For loans up to Rs 1.6 lakh no collateral is needed. For longer-term needs like buying equipment, a borewell, or livestock, banks offer agriculture term loans, often with NABARD refinance. Avoid private moneylenders who charge very high interest. If you do not have land in your name, tenant farmers and sharecroppers can still get credit through Joint Liability Groups (JLGs). Ask your bank branch for the right product for your need.

Crop loan ke liye KCC sabse sasta hai. Maine pehle ek private sahukar se liya tha, byaj itna zyada tha ki fasal ka saara munafa usi me chala gaya. Bank se KCC banwane ke baad bahut farak pada.

For short-term seed and fertiliser money use the KCC, but for buying a tractor or digging a borewell ask for a separate term loan. Mixing the two confused my repayment. Keeping them separate made the accounts clearer.

Landless cultivator hoon, mujhe gaon me ek JLG group banwa ke loan mila. Bank group ko deta hai aur sab ek doosre ki guarantee dete hain. Bina jameen wale isi raaste se loan le sakte hain.

Before borrowing, ask whether your need fits an existing subsidy scheme. My drip irrigation came partly through a subsidy plus a smaller loan, so I borrowed much less than I first planned. The agriculture office told me about it.

If a bank keeps turning you away, it helps to know agriculture credit is a priority sector target for them. Asking for a written reason for refusal usually gets the loan processed instead. Otherwise raise it with the lead district manager.
