If your insured crop is damaged, report the loss within 72 hours of the event. For localised calamities (hailstorm, landslide, inundation, cloudburst) and post-harvest losses, intimate quickly through the Crop Insurance App, the PMFBY toll-free helpline 14447, your insurance company, bank, or agriculture officer. Give your policy number, crop name, survey number, date and cause of loss. The insurance company then surveys your field within a few days and assesses the loss. For widespread losses (drought, flood) covered by area-based yield, claims are settled automatically based on crop cutting experiments, so no individual intimation is needed. Approved claims are paid into your bank account by DBT. Always keep your policy receipt and report on time, as late intimation is a common reason for rejection.

Mere gehu pe ole padi thi. Maine 14447 pe call karke 2 din me bata diya tha. Company ka aadmi khet dekhne aaya, photo li, kuch hafton baad paisa aaya. Time pe report karna sabse zaroori hai.

If the helpline does not connect during a big calamity (lines get busy), do not just give up. Report in writing to your bank branch and the agriculture office the same day and keep the receipt or acknowledgement. Having it in writing within 72 hours protected my claim.

Note the difference: for hail or a single field flooding it is individual intimation in 72 hours, but for a whole-area drought the claim is based on crop cutting experiments and comes automatically. I waited around expecting to file individually for a drought and wasted time, the area-based one just came later on its own.

Intimation dete waqt apna policy number, fasal ka naam, survey number aur nuksaan ki tareekh sahi bolo. Maine pehli baar adhoori jaankari di to surveyor ko khet dhoondhne me dikkat hui. Saari detail ek kaagaz pe likh ke phone ke paas rakho.

Even after the surveyor visits, follow up. My survey was done but the report sat unsubmitted for weeks. I called 14447 with my docket number and asked them to chase the company, and only then did the assessment move forward. Do not assume it is done just because someone visited.
