Whether beginners should attempt RAS.

Honestly, RAS is not suited to most first time farmers. It needs high capital, continuous power, a deep understanding of biofiltration and water chemistry, and round the clock monitoring, so a single mistake or power cut can wipe out the whole stock. The failure risk for an untrained beginner is high, and the running cost of power and feed is heavy. If you are serious, the better path is to first work or train at an existing RAS farm, then start small. Many people succeed better starting with simpler pond or composite culture and only move to RAS once they understand fish health and water management. Get an honest assessment from your state Fisheries department and a working RAS operator before deciding, and do not take a large loan on the strength of marketing claims.

I started with a pond first and learned fish health there before even thinking about RAS. RAS punishes mistakes hard. Build your skills cheaply first.
