Can I get PMMSY subsidy for setting up a biofloc unit?

Biofloc units are included as a component under the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) in many states, usually with a subsidy of around 40 percent of the approved unit cost for general category and around 60 percent for SC, ST and women beneficiaries, on a fixed unit cost decided by the department. The exact eligible cost per unit, the number of tanks covered and the documents needed are decided by your state Fisheries department, so the amounts change by state and by year. You apply through your district Fisheries office, not online to the central government directly. Get the current approved unit cost, your share and the deadline confirmed at the district office before you build anything, since subsidy is often released after inspection. Do not assume the subsidy will cover most of your cost.
