Good spikes come from steady light, humidity and balanced nutrition rather than any single trick. Orchids need bright but diffused light through shade net, not harsh direct sun, and stable humidity, since dry stress causes bud and flower drop. Use a balanced orchid feeding through the medium and avoid waterlogging the roots, which rot easily. Stake the spike early so it grows straight for cut flower grade. Harvest at the correct open stage and put stems into clean water immediately, then keep them cool. For your exact feeding schedule and any growth regulator practice, check with a floriculture specialist or KVK, because it depends on your variety and climate.

Bud drop for me was a humidity problem, once I added misting in the dry spell the flowers held much better. Roots rotting from overwatering was my other early mistake.
