Is rambutan suitable for my farm and which states in India can grow it?

Rambutan is a humid tropical fruit and only suits warm, high rainfall, frost free areas with high humidity, so in India it does best in coastal Kerala, parts of coastal Karnataka, the Konkan, and some pockets of the North East and Tamil Nadu hills. It needs well distributed rainfall or assured irrigation, temperatures roughly in the warm tropical range without cold winters, and shelter from strong dry winds. It will not do well in dry, hot interior plains or anywhere with frost or a long dry season unless you can irrigate and maintain humidity. Because it is still a niche crop in India, treat any planting as semi commercial to start with, and before investing visit your nearest KVK or a horticulture research station and an established grower to confirm your specific village conditions. Soil should be deep, well drained and slightly acidic; waterlogging kills young plants.
