Test your irrigation water before you design drip, because the water decides the filter, whether you will face clogging, and even whether some crops will suffer. Get a water analysis from a lab or KVK and look at a few things: the salinity or EC tells you how salty the water is and whether salt sensitive crops will struggle; high hardness or high carbonates and bicarbonates warn you of white scale clogging the drippers, which means you should plan periodic acid treatment; iron in the water can form deposits and slime that block emitters; and suspended sand or silt decides whether you need a hydrocyclone or sand filter. A SAR and RSC reading also tell you about sodium hazard to your soil over time. None of this stops you using drip, but it changes the design: the filter type, the dripper type, and the maintenance schedule. If you skip the test and install blindly, the common result is clogged drippers within a season and a system that underperforms. Share the water report with your vendor so they choose the right filter and dripper and warn you about needed treatments. For interpreting the report and any treatment, follow your KVK or lab guidance.
I tested first and the report showed hard water. The vendor fitted the right filter and told me to acid treat now and then. No clogging in two years.
