After a bad season I am waiting for my crop insurance money. How long should it take and why do some farmers get delayed?

For yield-based claims, the timeline runs from harvest, not from your loss date, because the claim is worked out from crop-cutting experiments. The broad sequence is: the season ends, crop-cutting experiments are completed, the actual yield for each notified unit is compiled and approved, claims are then computed and approved, and finally the insurer credits eligible farmer accounts. PMFBY sets time targets for these steps so payment should follow within a defined period after the yield data is finalised, often a couple of months, but real timing depends on the chain. Common causes of delay are: late submission of yield or crop-cutting data by the state, delay in the state or central government releasing its premium subsidy share to the insurer, mismatched or incorrect bank or Aadhaar details for the farmer, and disputes over the declared yield. For localized and post-harvest claims the survey-based assessment can move faster since it does not wait for the full season. If your money is late, check your status with your policy number on the portal, confirm your bank details are correct, and use the grievance channels if it stays stuck.
Hamare yaha ek saal late hua tha kyunki state ka subsidy share late aaya tha. Bank details sahi rakho warna paisa atak jata hai.
Check your account number and IFSC on the policy. My payment bounced once because of an old closed account. After updating it the credit came.
