How many crop cutting experiments are done and can I see the results for my area?

A fixed minimum number of crop-cutting experiments is planned for each notified insurance unit and crop, decided by the state, with a higher number where the unit is smaller so the result is reliable. Field staff select sample plots, harvest a measured area, weigh the produce and record the yield, and the average of these samples becomes the Actual Yield for the unit. Two points are useful for you. First, you can request to be informed when a crop-cutting experiment is happening in your notified area, and in many places farmers or their representatives can be present as witnesses. Second, the season-wise yield data and claim status for notified units are published on the PMFBY portal, so you can look up the actual yield declared for your crop and unit using your district and season. If the number of experiments seems too low or the result looks wrong for your area, raise it with the agriculture office, since the count and methodology are part of the official process.
