I have a crop loan. I heard insurance is automatic for loan farmers. How do I confirm I am actually covered?

Since PMFBY became voluntary, even loanee farmers are no longer automatically insured against their wishes. If you have a crop loan or KCC and you do not opt out, your bank will normally enrol you and deduct the premium along with your loan. But you should still confirm it rather than assume. Three checks help. First, look at your loan or KCC account statement near the cut-off date for a premium debit entry. Second, ask your branch for your PMFBY application or policy number for the season. Third, use that number to check your status on the PMFBY portal or the Crop Insurance app. If the premium was deducted but no policy shows up, raise it with the branch in writing immediately, because a missing policy record can block a future claim. The enrolment cut-off and the opt-out window change each season, so confirm the current dates with your bank.
Mera loan tha to bank ne premium kaat liya tha, par policy number maine khud jaake liya. Statement me entry dikh gayi thi.
One year my premium was cut but the crop on the policy was wrong. I got it corrected before the cut-off. Always check that the insured crop matches what you are sowing.
