Someone told me a KCC holder gets some insurance cover. What cover comes with the card and is there a premium?

KCC holders have traditionally been offered a Personal Accident Insurance Scheme that pays the family if the farmer dies or is permanently disabled in an accident, for a small annual premium, part of which the bank or scheme often bears. The cover amount is modest and is meant as basic protection, not a full life policy. Separately, when you open the KCC account you can enrol in the low cost government accident and life cover schemes that any account holder can join for a small yearly premium. Note this accident cover is different from crop insurance, which protects the crop, not the person. To know exactly what your card carries, ask the branch whether the KCC accident cover is active on your account, what the sum insured is, and what premium is deducted. The schemes and amounts are revised over time, so check the current cover and premium with your bank and keep the nominee details updated.
Mere KCC ke saath accident cover tha, premium bahut kam tha. Maine nominee me patni ka naam darj karwa diya. Yaad se nominee bharo, warna baad me dikkat hoti hai.
