My crop did poorly and I will not be able to clear my KCC before the due date. What happens to my account and interest?

If you miss the KCC due date, three things happen. First, you lose the prompt repayment incentive and the subvention benefit, so your rate jumps from the cheap effective rate to the full card rate. Second, penal or overdue interest is added on top of the unpaid amount. Third, if the overdue runs long enough the account can be marked irregular or eventually non-performing, which hurts your ability to borrow later. The good news is there are relief routes. If the loss is due to a natural calamity or general crop failure, the loan can be restructured or rescheduled, with the short term loan converted to a term loan repayable over a few years, and in notified calamity areas the subvention may continue on the restructured amount. Talk to your branch before the due date, not after, and ask about restructuring and any state relief. Also check if your crop was covered under crop insurance, as a claim can cover part of the dues. Exact relief depends on whether a calamity is officially notified, so confirm with your branch.
Mera ek saal fasal kharab hui thi. Maine due date se pehle branch jaakar baat ki, unhone restructure kar diya aur kuch saal me chukane ka mauka mila. Chhupane se nuksan hota hai, pehle hi baat karo.
Late hone par mujhe penal interest laga aur 4 percent ka fayda chala gaya. Agli baar maine thoda thoda jama karke due date sambhal liya. Ek din ki bhi der mehngi padti hai.
