Everyone keeps saying CBBO CBBO. I still do not understand what they actually do for us and how we get one. Can someone explain in simple terms?

A CBBO (Cluster Based Business Organisation) is the professional agency that hand holds your FPO under the 10,000 FPO scheme. In plain terms they do the work you cannot do alone: mobilising and registering members, doing the legal registration and ROC paperwork, preparing your detailed business plan, training your board and CEO, helping you get licences, opening bank and credit linkages, and reporting your progress to the implementing agency for 3 to 5 years. They are paid by the government per FPO, not by you, so do not let anyone charge you a private fee for what the CBBO is meant to do. You do not pick a CBBO on your own; FPOs are sanctioned to an implementing agency (such as SFAC, NABARD, NAFED, state agencies) which assigns a CBBO to your cluster. To get one, approach the implementing agency or the agriculture department in your district and ask to be included in a sanctioned cluster, or apply through the SFAC/NABARD portal. Confirm the current list of implementing agencies and CBBOs for your state on the official portal.

Our CBBO ran our first board training and built the business plan. Good ones are very useful, lazy ones just register you and vanish. Ask other FPOs about the CBBO before you commit.

Remember the CBBO is paid by the scheme. Nobody should ask you for cash for registration.
