For 10 acres across three crops, owning can pay off if you also do a little custom threshing for neighbours, since it spreads the cost over more hours. The catch is that you must change sieves and tune the speed for each crop or you get grain breakage and high losses. If your total threshing days are few, hiring through a custom hiring centre is often cheaper. Check grain damage on a trial run before buying, and confirm PTO HP needed matches your tractor.
