Be careful with the high numbers shown by promoters. Realistic quinoa yields in Indian conditions are often modest, commonly in the range of about 4 to 8 quintal per acre, and only good growers with the right climate and management touch the higher end. On price, the glossy retail rate you see in shops is not what reaches the farmer. Farm gate or bulk selling price has come down a lot as more people started growing it, and you may get far less than the retail figure, often a wide range depending on cleaning, grading and whether you sell raw or processed. There is no MSP and no assured buyer, so without a contract you can be stuck with unsold stock. Treat any single quoted figure with suspicion, ask other growers in your district what they actually received, and lock a buyer and price in writing before sowing.

The retail price and the price they gave me were two different worlds. After cleaning and saponin removal cost, my net came down a lot. Verify with someone who has actually sold, not the seed seller.

My yield was on the lower side the first year because I did not thin properly and birds took a share. Second year was better. Do not expect the marketing numbers in year one.
