Is mahogany felling and timber sale legally restricted like sandalwood?

Mahogany is an ordinary plantation timber and does not carry the heavy species specific restrictions that sandalwood, red sanders and agarwood do. There is no investment scam culture around it and no wildlife or international trade control on growing it on your farm. However, like other farm timber, when you fell and move the logs you will usually need a transit pass under your state forest rules to transport the wood legally, and a few states ask for felling intimation for certain species. The rules for farm grown timber have been simplified in many states. So mahogany is much simpler than sandalwood, but still confirm the transit pass and any felling intimation requirement with your range forest office before harvest so the sale and transport go smoothly.
