To make spawn I need mother culture. Where do I get genuine mother cultures and how do I maintain them for a spawn business?

Mother culture is the pure starting culture of the mushroom on a sterile medium, usually agar in petri plates or slants, from which you make grain spawn. Get genuine mother cultures from the ICAR Directorate of Mushroom Research (DMR) at Solan, State Agricultural Universities or reputable established culture banks and labs, and always ask for the correct species and a good strain suited to your customers needs and your climate. To maintain them you keep the cultures pure on agar, store slants cool, and periodically renew them, while guarding against degeneration that comes from sub culturing too many times. Maintaining cultures properly is a skilled job and is the backbone of a spawn business, so poor culture management shows up as weak or contaminated spawn down the line. If you are not yet confident in agar work, start by buying fresh mother cultures regularly rather than maintaining your own. Learn culture maintenance hands on at DMR Solan or an SAU.
At first I bought fresh mother culture each cycle rather than maintaining my own slants. Once I learned agar work properly at a course I started keeping my own. Do not rush that step.
