Guava fruit fly control Uttar Pradesh, amrud Bactrocera trap bait management Allahabad

Fruit fly is the most damaging guava pest, especially in the rainy season crop; females lay eggs in maturing fruit and maggots feed inside, causing rotting and premature drop. Manage it with an integrated approach: collect and destroy all fallen and infested fruits daily by deep burying or solarizing, do not leave them in the orchard. Install methyl eugenol pheromone traps to monitor and mass-trap male flies, use protein bait sprays on a few plants to attract and kill flies, and consider taking the winter crop which usually has lower fruit fly pressure. Plough around tree basins to expose pupae. Use only approved baits and insecticides at label dose and follow your state agricultural university advisory.
Daily collection and deep burying of fallen fruit is the part everyone wants to skip and it is the most important. The maggots pupate in the soil under the tree, so leaving dropped fruit just breeds the next generation. We bury, not heap.
Methyl eugenol traps work best when the whole village puts them up together. A few isolated traps in my plot helped a little, but once neighbouring orchards joined in, the catch in everyone's traps went up and the damage came down. It is an area-wide pest.
Shifting weight to the winter crop cut my fruit fly losses sharply. The rainy crop in our heat and humidity is a feast for the flies, while the winter fruit stays much cleaner and fetches a better rate too. Ask your KVK how to regulate cropping for this.
