Aphids cluster on the undersides of leaves and can get into the curd, where they downgrade the produce and buyers reject it. Scout early and act before curds start forming, because once aphids are inside the curd they are hard to remove and you cannot spray safely close to harvest. Yellow sticky traps help monitor, and conserving natural enemies like ladybird beetles keeps numbers down. If you must spray, do it well before harvest using a recommended insecticide as per label and pre harvest interval, never close to picking. Confirm the chemical, dose and safe interval with your KVK or the product label so the curd stays residue safe.

In Punjab my cauliflower lost grade once when aphids got deep into the curd. Now I scout at the leaf stage and act early, because you cannot spray safely so close to harvest.

I lost grade once when aphids got into the curds. Now I keep an eye out at the leaf stage and the ladybirds in my field handle most of it.

A tip that works for me: I leave field borders for ladybird beetles and they clear most aphids. Only if numbers spike do I spray, well before harvest and as per the label interval.
