Bright yellow and green mosaic mottling with puckered leaves, stunting and poor podding, starting at edges with whitefly around, is yellow mosaic virus, spread by whitefly. The virus has no cure once a plant is infected, so the plan is reduce the carrier and the source. Rogue out early infected plants when they are still few, since they act as a virus reservoir. Manage whitefly with yellow sticky traps and a recommended insecticide rotated by mode of action, avoiding pyrethroids that flare whitefly. Keep field bunds free of weed hosts. The lasting solution is a YMV resistant or tolerant variety recommended for your district and clean seed for the next season, since susceptible varieties get hit every year. Confirm the resistant variety with your KVK or ICAR Indian Institute of Soybean Research, Indore.
In Vidisha YMV decides the yield some years. Since I switched to the tolerant variety the institute suggested and started early whitefly control, the loss is much less than before.
