Arhar (tur) yield depends a lot on rainfall, variety and pod borer control, with rainfed crops giving lower yields and irrigated or well managed crops giving more quintals per acre. Tur has an MSP announced each year, and in good demand years the open market rate has at times run above MSP, while in surplus years it falls. Because tur is a long duration crop occupying the field for months, weigh its return against shorter pulses you could fit in. Sell at MSP through the procurement centre if the market rate is below it. Check the current year tur MSP and your mandi rate before deciding, and ask your KVK for realistic local yields rather than assuming the best case.

Some years the market paid me more than MSP for tur, other years I had to use the procurement centre. Keep both options open and watch the rate near harvest.
