I lose too many Kadaknath chicks in the early weeks. What are the basics of brooding and care to keep them alive and healthy at the start?

Early chick losses in any poultry, including Kadaknath, come mostly from poor brooding, chilling, dirty conditions and disease. Get the basics right: a clean, dry, draft-free brooder with proper warmth (chicks need steady heat the first weeks and you reduce it gradually), clean water with the right feed (good starter feed), enough space so they do not pile, and strict cleanliness. Start chicks from a reliable hatchery so they are healthy to begin with. Kadaknath chicks are a bit slower and delicate early, so warmth and hygiene matter even more. Vaccination and any medication must follow a veterinarian's schedule for your area, do not self-medicate, since the right vaccines (for diseases like Ranikhet or Newcastle and others) and timing should be set by a vet. For sick birds, consult your local veterinary doctor promptly.
Keeping the brooder warm and dry cut my chick deaths a lot in Bastar. Cold nights were killing them. I also got my vaccination schedule from the vet, which stopped the disease losses.
