A simple unit is a shallow lined pit or tank (a plastic or silpaulin lined bed a few inches deep) in partial shade, filled with water, with a layer of fertile soil and a little cow dung or slurry at the bottom, then seeded with fresh azolla. It doubles quickly, so you can harvest a portion daily once established. Keys to keep it producing: partial shade (full harsh sun and high heat stress it), maintain water level, add a little dung or nutrient periodically, do not let it get too crowded (harvest regularly), and rinse harvested azolla before feeding.
