I produce honey but the bulk trader pays very little. How do I get a better price, through branding, testing or buyers, without getting cheated?

Bulk traders pay the lowest rate because they buy unbranded honey by the drum. To earn more you generally move up the chain: get your honey tested for quality and moisture, brand and bottle it for direct or retail sale, and target buyers who pay for single-flora or hill honey (litchi, multiflora and so on). FSSAI registration is needed to sell branded honey legally, and proper moisture control and clean handling protect quality. Some beekeepers sell through FPOs, the Khadi network, or organised buyers under the National Beekeeping and Honey Mission (NBHM). The trade-off is that direct selling takes effort, packaging cost and time. Be careful of buyers who delay payment. Verify FSSAI requirements and any NBHM or FPO buyer links through your KVK or the National Bee Board.
Bottling my own hill honey for tourists in Nainital changed everything. The trader rate was a fraction of what I now get per bottle. It is more work but the margin is worth it.
