Sarpagandha is a multi season crop. It is raised from seed or root cuttings and the roots, which are the valuable part, are generally dug after around 18 months to 2 or even 3 years, because the root needs time to thicken and build up the active alkaloid. So your land and money are tied up for a long period. It prefers warm, humid conditions and well drained soil rich in organic matter. Because of the long duration and the regulatory steps, this is a crop for someone who can wait and who has sorted out both the legal compliance and a licensed buyer in advance. Confirm the exact recommended harvest age with your medicinal plant board or KVK, and do not plant a long crop like this without a verified buyer.

It is a patient man's crop. Roots take years to thicken. Not for someone who needs quick cash.
