Should cherry tomato be grown in polyhouse or open field?

Cherry tomato grows in both, but premium, crack-free, long-shelf fruit for retail and hotels usually comes from polyhouse or net house, where you control rain, splitting and leaf disease and can run a long indeterminate crop trained on strings. Open field cherry tomato works in cool dry weather and is cheaper to start, but fruit cracking after rain and more disease pressure can hurt quality and grade. For a small grower with a confirmed premium buyer, protected cultivation is often the better economics; without that buyer, keep it open field and small. Check subsidy options for protected structures with your horticulture department.

Open field cherry tomato cracks badly when rain hits ripe fruit. Since shifting mine into a net house the rejection from cracking dropped a lot.
