Want to know the main pest and disease problems in persimmon and how to manage them before planting.

Persimmon is fairly hardy but can face a few problems, fruit fly and fruit borers attacking the fruit, mealybugs and scale on stems and fruit, leaf spots and anthracnose in wet weather, and heavy fruit drop if pollination, nutrition or moisture is off. Birds also damage ripe fruit. Good orchard hygiene (removing fallen and infested fruit), traps for fruit fly, balanced nutrition, and pruning for airflow handle most issues. Frost can damage flowers and young growth in spring, so site selection matters. For any chemical control, use only labelled products, follow the PHI since the fruit is eaten fresh, and take KVK advice for the specific problem. Confirm the prevalent pests and approved management for Shimla with your KVK or horticulture department.
Birds and fruit fly are my main worries near ripening. Cleaning up dropped fruit and using traps keeps the fly down. Frost in spring can hit the flowers some years.
