Before planting avocado I want to know who buys it and whether the domestic market demand is genuine.

Avocado demand in India is rising in cities, driven by health-conscious buyers, cafes, supermarkets and online grocery, and a large share of consumption is still imported, which gives local growers an opening. Selling channels include supermarket and retail chain supply, online grocery aggregators, restaurants and cafes, and specialty fruit traders, often better than the general mandi where buyers may not know the fruit. Ripening and grading matter a lot, since avocado is harvested mature but hard and ripens off the tree, so handling and timing affect the price. The market is growing but still niche, so line up buyers before you have large volumes. Verify current demand, buyer contacts and price ranges for your area with your KVK and by talking to existing growers and fruit traders.

I tie up with a couple of city retailers directly. The local mandi here barely knows what to do with avocado, so direct selling pays much better.

I supply a couple of cafes and an online grocery. They pay well for clean, evenly ripened fruit, far more than any general fruit trader near me.

Ripening is a skill. I learned to harvest mature-hard and ripen in batches so the buyer gets fruit at the right stage. Random ripeness gets rejected.

Demand is genuinely growing in cities, but it is still niche. Do not plant acres before you have buyers, I started with a small lot and built up.

One warning, prices may not stay this high forever as more people plant. I treat the current good rate as a bonus, not a guarantee.
