Leaf blotch (Taphrina) and leaf spot (Colletotrichum) are common in turmeric during wet humid weather and show as brown to dark patches that merge and dry the leaf. First improve drainage and avoid waterlogging, since standing water makes both worse and also invites rhizome rot. Remove and destroy badly affected lower leaves. Recommended fungicide sprays are available but the choice, dose, spray interval and pre harvest interval must follow the product label and your local KVK advice, since recommendations vary by state and product. Avoid spraying during peak rain as it just washes off. Wider spacing and balanced fertiliser, not excess nitrogen, also reduce disease pressure.

In my field the patches were worst where water stood after rain. After I cut a drainage channel the new leaves came out cleaner. Drainage matters more than people think for haldi.

I noticed the disease started on the crowded lower leaves first. Now I keep the rows a bit wider so air moves through and the leaves dry faster after rain. Less dense crop, less spread.

Easing off the nitrogen helped me. When I fed heavy urea the leaves were soft and lush and the spots ran riot. A balanced dose kept the crop tougher. Ask your KVK before picking any spray, the recommendation changed in our taluka last year.

Do not spray when the rain is still coming, it just runs off the leaf and you waste the product. I wait for a clear gap of a day or so and spray then. Spraying into the rain wasted two rounds for me before I learnt.

Clearing out the badly hit lower leaves and burning them slowed the spread in my plot. Leaving the diseased leaves lying in the field just kept feeding it. Whatever spray you use, confirm the safe interval with the KVK because the haldi goes for eating.
