For restricted irrigation conditions in Bundelkhand, choose notified drought-tolerant and limited-irrigation wheat varieties bred for the Central zone that can perform on one or two irrigations rather than full-irrigation high-yielders. The exact recommended varieties change as new ones are released, so the best source is your district KVK or the ICAR research station list for your zone. Pair the variety with timely sowing, good seed treatment, mulching of paddy residue if available, and concentrate your one or two irrigations at CRI and flowering stages. Yields vary by soil, season and rainfall, so plan conservatively.

On my rainfed plot I focus the single irrigation around three weeks after sowing and it carries the crop reasonably well in a normal year.

In Bundelkhand the bigger gain for me came from sowing on time into good stored monsoon moisture and not from chasing the highest-yielding variety. A limited-water variety sown early on conserved moisture beats a thirsty high-yielder sown late with two irrigations. Timely sowing is half the battle here.
