Do I get a price premium for natural or organic produce if I do not get it certified?

You can get a premium without certification, but only from buyers who personally trust you, and that limits how far you can scale. Direct customers, a regular set of families, a local organic shop owner who knows your farm, or a weekend market crowd, will often pay more on trust alone, and many natural farmers run good businesses this way with no certificate. What certification adds is the ability to sell to buyers who do not know you, like distant stores, processors, exporters and online platforms, who need a recognised proof like PGS or NPOP before they pay extra. So the honest answer is, no certificate is fine if your market is local and trust based, but if you want to reach bigger or distant buyers and a reliable premium, you will eventually need PGS at minimum. Either way the premium comes from finding a buyer who values chemical free produce, not from the label by itself, so build your direct customer base first and add PGS group certification later when you want to expand. Confirm current PGS rules and any low cost group route with your regional council when you are ready.
