Is aeroponics practical for a private farmer or only for research and seed potato?

For most ordinary farmers, aeroponics is not a practical business at present. Its main successful use in India is institutional and specialised, particularly disease-free seed potato mini-tuber production in controlled centres, where the high value of certified seed justifies the cost and complexity. For general vegetable or greens production, simpler hydroponics or a polyhouse almost always makes more sense because aeroponics adds cost and failure risk without a matching revenue advantage. The system demands near-perfect reliability of misting and power, deep technical skill, and constant monitoring. If even a small fraction of that slips, exposed roots dry out fast. Unless you are setting up a specialised seed or research operation with the capital and expertise to back it, treat aeroponics as advanced and high risk for a private grower.
