Yes, scampi is often farmed together with carps such as rohu, katla and mrigal in the same pond, since the prawns live on the pond bottom while the carps use the upper and middle water, so they use the pond space efficiently. This polyculture spreads your risk, because even if one crop does poorly you may still earn from the other, and it can improve overall income from the same pond. You must balance the stocking of fish and prawns and manage feeding and water so neither is starved, and keep the bottom in good condition for the prawns. This is a popular lower risk approach for inland areas. Get the right species mix and stocking ratio for your region from your state Fisheries department.

Scampi with carps worked well for me as a safer model. The carps gave steady income while the prawns added the premium earnings. Balance the stocking so both grow.
