Treat such offers with strong suspicion. Cordyceps Militaris is one of the most common crops used in scam prone buyback schemes in India, where the seller makes money by selling you costly kits, spawn and equipment, while the promised high rate buyback is delayed, refused on quality grounds, or never honoured. Red flags include large upfront payment for kits or spawn, guaranteed high income claims, a buyback rate that seems too good, contracts with vague quality clauses that let them reject your produce, and an inability to show you existing farmers they actually pay. Before paying anything, independently verify the company, insist on meeting and calling real growers they currently buy from, check if any genuine open market and price exists, and get the agreement examined. Never invest borrowed money on a buyback promise alone. A real, fair buyer is rare in this product, which is exactly why scams thrive. Confirm with your KVK and DMR Solan before you part with money.

These buyback offers nearly trapped two farmers in my area. They paid for kits, grew the product, then the company rejected it as low quality and paid almost nothing. Be very careful.

My simple test, if the company makes its money selling me a kit rather than buying my produce, the buyback is probably not real. Walk away from upfront kit payments.
