Betel vine in the humid boroj is prone to foot rot and leaf rot caused mainly by Phytophthora, plus bacterial leaf spot, and these can spread fast in the warm wet enclosure. Prevention focuses on drainage and hygiene, keep beds well drained so water never stagnates at the vine base, avoid overhead waterlogging, remove and destroy affected leaves and vines early, and keep the boroj clean. Use healthy planting material and avoid taking cuttings from infected vines. Bordeaux mixture or the bio agents and fungicides your KVK recommends, applied at the label dose during risky wet periods, help protect the crop. Improving air movement and not over crowding vines reduces disease pressure. As with most vine crops, drainage and clean planting material prevent more loss than spraying after rot sets in.
