Exotic or cut flower chrysanthemum, both spray and standard types, is different from the traditional loose flower sevanti, it is grown under polyhouse or net for long straight stems and uniform blooms. It can be profitable because it has steady florist and decorator demand and you can time it for festival and wedding seasons, but it needs day length management since chrysanthemum is photoperiod sensitive, growers use black out and lighting to control flowering time. That control is what lets you hit market windows but it adds management effort. Income depends on stem grade and rate, which is a variable range, so verify current prices with your buyer. Treat day length control as essential learning before you start, and confirm variety, spacing and the lighting and black out schedule with your KVK or a specialist.

The black out and lighting schedule is what scared me at first but it is what lets you flower for the dates you want. Once I got the routine it became manageable. Without it the timing is out of your hands.

Pinching and disbudding decides whether you get big standard blooms or many spray flowers. Decide your product first, the market here pays differently for each.
