Zucchini is a warm season crop but prefers mild conditions, roughly 18 to 28 C, and does poorly in extreme heat or frost. In the north plains it is grown as a spring-summer crop with sowing around February to March, and again in some areas in early autumn. In milder and hill climates the window is longer. It does not tolerate frost, so avoid having young plants in the coldest weeks. Many growers also raise it under polyhouse or net house to extend the season and protect from heavy rain. Check exact dates with your local KVK.

In Punjab I sow late February so picking starts before the real heat. By peak summer the plants tire and virus comes, so I treat it as a spring crop.
