Is peach a good early-summer cash crop and what returns can I expect?

Peach ripens early in summer here. Is it a good cash crop for that early window, and what realistic returns per acre can I expect once trees are bearing? Ranges please.

Peach can be a good cash crop precisely because of its early-summer timing, arriving when few other quality fruits are available, so well-grown graded peaches fetch attractive rates in that window, and low-chill peach lets growers in the warmer plains and lower hills tap this market. Peach also bears young, often from year 2 to 3, so returns start relatively quickly compared with many tree fruits. Per-acre income once mature depends heavily on yield, fruit size and grade, and how fast you sell since peach is perishable. After costs of pruning, thinning, leaf-curl and fruit-fly control, harvesting and quick marketing, margins in a good year are good, especially for early, well-sized fruit sold fresh and local. Risks are frost at flowering in cold sites, rain and disease, and the short shelf life that forces fast sale. Grade well, harvest at proper maturity, and sell quickly to nearby premium markets for the best rate. Confirm current local peach rates and input costs before projecting income, and avoid relying on single best-year figures.

Early peach sells well here before the summer fruit glut. It bears fast too, I got fruit in the third year. Just sell quickly, it does not keep.

Grading matters a lot for peach price. The big well-coloured ones get a much better rate than the small mixed lot.
