Seed of a newly released variety is usually limited at first and flows out in stages, so go to the source. The best places are the State Agriculture University or research station that released it, the nearest Krishi Vigyan Kendra, the State Seed Corporation, and the National Seeds Corporation, which often handle early seed multiplication. Many KVKs and universities run seed sale counters and seed village programmes where they distribute small quantities of new varieties; ask to be put on the list early because stock is small. Avoid anyone selling a hot new variety as loose seed at a high price without a tag and bill, as that is a common route for duplicates. You can also ask the agriculture department whether the variety is available on the state seed portal this season. Confirm availability and book early through your KVK or the releasing university.
